Simon Monk

Chartered Wealth Manager

Simon established the Raymond James Ropemaker Place office in November 2020 from where he manages portfolios on behalf of Families, Trusts, Charities, Pension Funds, Court of Protection Deputies and Personal Injury clients.

Simon has almost 30 years of financial services experience, beginning his investment management career with the independent stockbroking practice of Cawood Smithie & Co., based in North Yorkshire. Following the takeover of the business in 2000, Simon moved to the head office of Brown Shipley in London, taking responsibility for a team of investment managers. Simon was fundamental in building Brown Shipley’s Court of Protection and Clinical Negligence business throughout his time with the company, developing excellent relationships with a number of leading legal practices within this area. In addition, Simon was a member of Brown Shipley’s Investment Policy Committee for several years.

Simon qualified in 1998 and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.

Throughout his career, Simon has established long lasting relationships with a broad range of clients across the country. Simon’s clients greatly value his professional yet personal approach, delivering a high level of service together with clear and transparent advice. Rob Lamdin

Chartered Wealth Manager

Rob joined Raymond James, Ropemaker Place in January 2021 as one of its founding Investment Managers and specialises in providing wealth management solutions for private clients, including Pension Funds, Family estate planning and Trust portfolios.

Rob has over 13 years of experience in the finance industry, beginning his career in the city with Savoy Investment Management in 2007 before moving to HSBC Global Asset Management in 2010 as a Portfolio Manager. Upon successful completion of the Masters in Wealth Management, Rob joined Brown Shipley’s London office where he was a Senior Client Manager responsible for a large number of personal client relationships.

Rob believes strongly that wealth management and advice should be available and accessible to all and clients appreciate his ability to provide advice in a personal, coherent manner.

Rob is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.

David Thompson

Business Development Executive

David started his career at Coutts, where he spent 26 years in client facing Private Banking roles. He qualified as a Wealth and Investment Manager, becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

In addition to providing regulated advice to high net worth clients, David also became Head of Sports and Entertainment client group at Coutts, which he ran successfully for several years.

David moved to Brown Shipley in 2014 to focus on the provision of investment advice to high-net-worth individuals and he managed an exclusive portfolio of clients successfully for over 8 years.

David worked with Simon and Rob at Brown Shipley and experienced personally the professionalism and excellence of their advice and being impressed with the ethos and approach of Raymond James Ropemaker Place, he joined their team in April 2023 as Business Development Executive.

David is a family man and has interests in all sports, particularly cricket, golf and rugby.  David is also involved in a local (Kent) Charity – Spadework – where he commits a considerable amount of his time in supporting the provision of meaningful opportunities for adults with learning and other disabilities.

Investment Committee

Simon Monk is part of an investment committee together with some of the other independent investment managers from the Raymond James Branches. This encourages and allows an exchange of ideas and knowledge for the benefit of clients. It helps support the robust investment process and helps foster the best investment ideas. The Investment Committee consists of Simon Monk, Greg Mahon, Nicola Tomlin and Richard Fowler and meets quarterly.

Greg established Raymond James Chichester in March 2020 to manage investment portfolios for private individuals, associated family trusts and pensions, as well as charity clients.

Greg spends the majority of his time managing client portfolios and is part of the investment team.

Greg has spent his entire career in the finance industry, the vast majority of which has been private client investment management, having started in institutional stockbroking.

Until November 2019 Greg was head of Rathbones investment management business in Chichester where he had worked for 17 years, the first 8 years as an investment director and the latter 9 years as regional head, responsible for the Chichester office, its management, direction, and future development. He sat on the regional management committee as well as various other committees and projects.

During the 17 years Greg was at Rathbones he led the team as well as the strategy, which grew assets under management from below £100m to over £600m.

His client base is largely made up of individuals, family groupings and charities. His clients are mainly concentrated in West Sussex and London, with a few overseas.

Prior to Rathbones, Greg worked for Premier Asset Management developing its private client business, including the acquisition of Johnson Fry’s private client business from Legg Mason. Greg spent 9 years working for Murray Johnstone Private Investors both in London & Glasgow and was one of two principals responsible for establishing the private client business at the HQ in Glasgow.

He has also worked for Smith New Court (now Merrill Lynch) both in market making and institutional sales-trading.

Greg is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager. Having achieved the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), Greg is also an IMC member of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Society of The UK.

Greg is a trustee board member of 2 locally based charities, Stonepillow and The South Downs National Park Trust, and involved with a number of community-based projects in and around Chichester, as well as the wider county.

Nicola Tomlin

Nicola is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and a Chartered Wealth Manager and has been looking after clients for over 30 years.  Nicola began her career at Charles Stanley and in 2016 was one of the founding partners of Raymond James, Solent. In 2019 she then founded Raymond James, Hart – an independent office with Raymond James in Hampshire.

Richard Fowler

Richard Fowler began his career in 1989, in the City with UBS Phillips & Drew.  After leaving London in 1994 he spent time at Albert E Sharp and Charles Stanley.  Based in and around Gloucestershire he manages portfolios for Private Clients, charities and trusts either directly, or in conjunction with clients’ other professional advisers.  Richard joined the Raymond James, South Cotswolds Office in 2017.

Richard is married with three teenage children (and two terriers) and in any spare time he is keen to explore the Cotswolds by motorcycle.  A one-time youth football coach, he now helps to run a local football club.
